In an average year I report about 300 issues on behalf of constituents.

Flytipping has always been an issue but more recently it has taken over my “postbag”. Barely a week goes by when I don’t hear of another incident. Of course, many are in similar places and as soon as one lot is removed more is dumped.

Also, it often is not local people who are doing this. I have evidence of people coming into our area and dumping stuff including fridges, freezers etc.. I also have evidence of out of town buy-to-let landlords disposing of their tenants’ belongings over the back wall and just leaving them there.

What can be done:-

1. Obviously, don’t flytip yourself – most people wouldn’t anyway;
2. Report to the council and let me know on councillor@andyplatt.org.uk so that I can chase it up;
3. Please consider being willing to go to court if you see someone who has flytipped.

We can beat this menace together!
