Andy has lived in the area for over 30 years and is well known in the local community.  He does his main shopping in the ward and Stoke Town centre.  He played for a local pub in a weekly quiz league.  He is a keen Stoke City fan.

Andy had been a councillor for the previous Stoke West ward, which covered most of the current ward, from 1986-1996 and the Boothen & Oak Hill ward from 2011 to date.  He had been a community activist for 10 years before this.

He is very proud of his two grown up children who went to what is now Stoke Minster primary school and both the local high schools.  His son is a local businessman and his daughter produces radio programmes for the BBC.

He is a big supporter of the environment and very keen on combatting climate change.  He read E. F. Schumacher’s “Small is Beautiful” as a teenager and has since championed the City Council having an energy company to locally generate and supply both conventional fuels and district heating to local residents at reduced cost.

He has worked in engineering for most of his life is a proud member and former branch officer of Unite the Union.
