Cllr Andy Platt Standing up for Boothen, Penkhull, Stoke and West End
New car park works start Monday (23rd November 2020).
This is great news for the town centre. The derelict building has gone and the cleared site is going to be tidied up. It is planned to take about 8 weeks. However……
However, the Tories have stepped in and insisted that all 74 spaces remain and we get just an interpretation board on the edge of the site. I still think that the argument for removing just 2 spaces and creating a space for some sort of permanent commemoration is strong.
Also, I am concerned that the interpretation board needs to be significant and fitting for the Town Centre – particularly the Heritage Trail. I hope that they will come up with something that is appropriate.
I don’t think that anything could be more appropriate than adding to the Heritage Trail potters paddles for the first time in 20 years. I hope you agree!
