Cllr Andy Platt Standing up for Boothen, Oak Hill, Penkhull, Stoke & West End

Just a quick update for those who have asked me about the former Iceland store in Stoke and the plans Lidl have for adding it to their store. I have previously noted Iceland’s demise in Stoke.
I have just checked and as yet there has been no planning application submitted to change the entrance and car park as expected. I am not an expert on supermarket design and so will probably make no comments about the expanded store itself but I think that there could be better marked pedestrian access across the car park.
When you go to some supermarkets there are clearly marked pedestrian routes and I think that this makes it much safer for pedestrians and gives drivers a warning about where to expect to find people walking.
I do hope that the former Iceland comes back into use soon and that we get safer routes across the car park.
