Census paperwork

Today, 21st March 2021 is census day. It is also the 90th birthday of my maiden aunt. She is not my aunt by birth but when they were young she was my Mum’s best friend and when my Mum’s mother died she was brought up by this friend’s family. It used to happen a lot before proper social care was brought in by the post-war Labour Government.

So after a fun but lengthy chat with the birthday girl I settled down to fill out my census form. I did it online and it was surprisingly easy but don’t listen to the 10 minutes thing – it took me a full 13 minutes to complete!

Even disregarding the £1,000 fine for non-completion it is really important that you complete it. All public bodies need accurate data about our community, how it exists today and how it has changed. Of course, confidentiality is guaranteed by law.

You are given a short while to complete it but today is the day of the data. Please fill it out as soon as possible. Thanks
