Cllr Andy Platt Standing up for Boothen, Oak Hill, Penkhull, Stoke & West End

I call on the city council to fund Free School Meals for vulnerable young people during school holidays.
Covid-19 has deepened poverty in this city. 11,500 young people that have been assessed as being in need of free school meals are going hungry during school holidays. To their shame the Tory government voted down the chance to introduce a national scheme.
The council has received about £35m to cover the extra costs of Covid-19 and I believe that some of this money should go towards the most vulnerable young people.
