Yeaman Street fence

020_Yeaman_Street_before.jpgLate last Friday night a vehicle got into Yeaman Street park from Empire Passage and tried to get out through the main gates on Yeaman Street.  As this was never going to be possible they damaged the fence in trying.  This has been reported to the police and they are investigating.

My concern was for the safety of the public and getting the fence repaired quickly.  I was worried that it may be decided that the fence needed removing for repair therefore leaving an unsatisfactory situation for the residents and park users.021_Yeaman_Street_after.jpg

As soon as I was aware of the situation I insisted that the repairs were done on site and not that the fence and gate were removed.

Imagine my joy when I went to check on the work this morning to find it completed!

My thanks go to all the team from the city council who dealt with this job in less than a week - well done!
