Social enterprises are important in that their profits are reinvested in the community. I have recently visited PM Training which has nearly 35 years history operating in the city.
Their philosophy is that they take young people into their organisation, train them and attempt to get them into work. This seems to be working as 81% are currently progressing into employment. They also have been identified by OFSTED as achieving "Best practice" - no mean feat!
You may have seen their vans around the area and they offer a whole range of services including handyman, gardening and painting and decorating.
If you want to find out more they are online at www.pmtraining.org.uk or phone 01782 279121.
