I am launching a campaign to install defibrillators throughout Boothen & Oak Hill ward. I was inspired to do this by two experiences.
Firstly, when visiting the then Britannia Stadium a couple of years ago I noticed that they had defibrillators at various points around the ground and wondered whether it would be possible to do something in town.
Secondly, when on holiday in Skye I met Ross Cowie who had had a heart attack in Portree and felt he was only alive because, by chance, an ambulance was close by. He subsequently set up a charity www.lucky2bhere.org to supply defibrillators and train users throughout Scotland. I was particularly impressed that primary school children on the island of Raasay were trained to use them.
I have teamed up with Stone-based AEDdonate to provide defibrillators at The Commercial Inn, www.aeddonate.org.uk/projects/commercialinn/ and London Road Ale House www.aeddonate.org.uk/projects/londonroadalehouse/ on London Road who are hoping to fundraise during January/February 2017.
London Road Ale House has a collection box on their bar - please give generously. Both pubs will be organising activities over the next few weeks and I shall add their events here.
