I am often asked what I do as a councillor. The main thing is helping individual people with the issues that concern them. It is not always possible to be successful but it is always important to try to get a good result.
Flytipping is a regular issue from a full three piece suite to general littering and dog fouling is always on my agenda. I report flytipping several times a week. It is a crime and I try to get the council to prosecute where they can. If you see some please inform the council directly on firstname.lastname@example.org and copy me in on email@example.com.
Another regular issue is the state of the roads. Potholes, puddles and dropped kerbs are some items that I have reported in the last few weeks. I think that dropped kerbs with tactile surfaces are so important for many people. The one at Yeaman Street (right) is a case in point. I have recently had this repaired but it shows two issues in one. It was put there for pushchairs and wheelchairs to cross easily but was nearly always flooded. If you have a problem near you please tell the council directly on firstname.lastname@example.org and copy me in on email@example.com.
The problem of empty properties also blights our area. Not only is it depriving people of homes but also attracts anti-social behaviour. Recently several properties in our area have been raided as drug factories. This is not good for the neighbours. Some streets have as many as 10-15% of properties empty. This is not good for the area. I report every one for action by the council. If you know of an empty property near you please email firstname.lastname@example.org and copy me in on email@example.com.
I shall continue to fight for the people of this area. Please let me know of any issues that concern you on firstname.lastname@example.org.
